Domains
Your Domain Name
is as important to your business as your registered company name. It
represents your business online and should be protected as one of your most
important business assets. Every 12 or 24 months it will require renewal.
If you don't track the renewal and it stays expired for more than 30 days
then it can be legally purchased by a competitor who could point it at their
own site, or a domain poacher who could attempt to sell it back to you for
thousands of dollars.
Renewal is only $12.00 per year, so don't forget to properly calendarise it
to remind yourself.
We also suggest you register your alternative .net.au domain name to prevent
a competitor buying it and trading off your business name.
Finally we always strongly advise not to have a .com domain name unless you
have the .com.au also. Australians are naturally mistrustful of a business
which claims to be Australian yet doesn't have an Australian domain name.
